| Biography | ||||||||
Darla
was born in Canada and has resided in Barbados as a citizen since 1982.
She received formal art education in Canada and has worked in many art
related arenas: teacher, interior and exterior decorator and designer,
letter specialist, trade mark designer, advertising art department
supervisor, sign painter. Beginning her professional painting career in
1978, Darla has exhibited in Canada and Barbados and her work has been
purchased internationally as well as by many business houses and
government departments in Barbados. In 1986 she founded the Coffee and
Cream Art Gallery.Darla works predominantly in acrylics and her work can be described as subject realism. “The artist’s responsibility is to leave an impression in the eye, mind and the heart of the viewer …… If someone should stop and see then what I have done has truly been worthwhile.” |
